Constable Jamieson has been teaching us all about safe walking and he even let us have a turn in his police car...COOL!!!!
Our visit from the Firemen was great. We found out that smoke alarms are like our nose at night. They smell the smoke and then wake us up so that we can GET OUT and STAY OUT!!! Term TwoMATARIKI We had a fantastic day celebrating Matariki. We sung and danced. We painted koru patterns. We made tiki necklaces and headbands. We made and then flew our kites. We made Maori bread and ate it....yum!!
We have been talking about instructions. We made fairy bread so that we could write a set of instructions. Come into the classroom and we will give you instructions for making delicious fairy bread too!!!! Before we could make our fairy bread some of went shopping for the ingredients!!
Botanic Garden Trip What a fantastic day we had. It started with a very exciting bus trip. Then half of our class went to explore the gardens. The other half went into the classroom to learn about the parts of a flower, life cycles and pollination.
Pink Shirt DayToday we celebrated Pink Shirt Day(22 May 2015). In the Rimu Room we do not like bullies so we try to be kind to one another all the time and are trying to think about whether what we do or say may make someone sad.
CUPCAKE DAY! Friday the 8th May was CUPCAKE DAY! Thank you so much to all of the wonderful parents who did such an amazing amount of baking. We had such a great day. We also made popcorn in class to sell and all of the children loved watching it POP! Then they helped to bag it up ready to sell. What a fun day for everybody!
We are so lucky...every Wednesday morning we go to GET SET GO! Shaun comes in and teaches us cool things. We have been learning about balance. We know that there are three things that you need to balance and they are: EYES FRONTARMS OUTSTAND TALL
Term One
Well, term one is coming to a close. We have had a short school term but a very busy one. It was lovely to see so many children and their parents at the school carnival. Have a lovely Easter break and a well earned rest and we will see you all back in Term two. Mrs Huggins, Mrs Hill, Mrs Mistry and Mrs Stewart have really enjoyed the term and getting to know your children.
We made a pictograph about our favourite food from the Carnival. We found out that hamburgers were our favourite food. Hotdogs were our next favourite and sushi was our least favourite. Then we made a human graph. Can you tell which line is which???
A Sneak Preview!!!!
Look how busy we are painting our ladybirds for the Carnival. We hope that you will want to buy some of our beautiful ladybirds. They are very cute. Perfect for the garden or a paper weight or would even make great book ends!!!!
Cultural Day - week 4Check out our short photo story about our day. Can you see us trying to pick up beans with chopsticks? We made beautiful Rangoli patterns and played Maori stick games and made headbands. We had so much fun. Our tummies were also very full from the amazing food that we had.
SOCCER TODAY!!! Week three We played Cat and Mouse and an animal game. We loved playing Shark Attack. We had to yell SHARK ATTACK in our very loudest voice and then kick our ball across the field trying not to be eaten by a shark. It was great fun!
Week Two
We started Cricket this week. It was so much fun. We got to play a fun game called "stuck in the mud". We found out that to catch a cricket ball you need to open your hands like a book!
